Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Public Affairs

What is the Public Affairs team like at WF? Looking at a couple jobs on that team, but the layoff culture has me concerned. Anyone have insight into that LOB?

It is loaded with toxicity. Stay away. Look elsewhere. Somehow people who needs to go are not gone.

The PA team has had significant "efficiency" layoffs in April and May 2025 and again in April 2025. The overall function has been cut to the bare minimum with the teaming workers having to pick up the slack as no work is ever stopped once staff is let go. It is openly discussed amongst the team that another wave of efficiency cuts are coming for PA in September. Add to that the rotating leadership that's come and gone since 2020 and your head will spin. Morale is as bad as or worse than the rest of WF. Be warned!

Read these boards and you’ll see what you’d be getting yourself into by coming to work here.

I cannot recommend WF as a place to work at, or to bank with. It’s a terrible company, and our CEO’s nickname is “Chainsaw” lol. Don’t do it.

New hires are often being used to absorb mandatory quotas for lowered rankings in the firm’s Jack Welch-style forced rankings. Unfortunately, the consequences can be severe—you start off in an HR tailspin and glide path to disciplinary action/termination that’s hard to recover from, and you may find your career permanently hobbled or even doomed. If you are FINRA licensed, involuntary terminations, fair or not, go on your public dossier and stay for life. It’s a terrible system to start with—based on a discredited management approach that many firms abandoned decades go—and it’s being cynically manipulated to boot. I really don’t recommend joining any department at WF.

Don't recommend going to WF. Lots of games, no accountability, lots of layoffs and firings. Look somewhere else & save yourself the headache. You may be hired to be the "expendable" team member to protect the team.

With the current PA leader, they are a great group. But they have displaced quite a few folks for both efficiency and location since November. Because of that I find it interesting that they are hiring again.
