Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Another Quarter, Another Excuse

Someone in the ELT is probably raising a glass while shareholders are staring at a 20% post-market collapse and another 52-week low.
Green day? "Look at the value we've created."
Red day? "The market is overreacting."
No. The market is keeping score.
You can't win the AI race with a legacy mindset. While competitors reinvent themselves, Teradata still feels like it's trying to bolt AI onto yesterday's business.
The stock isn't the problem.

It's the scoreboard.

Teradata still feels like it's trying to bolt AI onto yesterday's business.

I agree with this, but the problem is that nobody is going to come to Teradata to buy AI products. They could use the AI tools that already exist to fix some of their buggy, unsupportable cr-p, but they won't. They'll produce a bunch of products that nobody can or will buy instead.

They have massive customer churns this year so they know 2026 is an unrecoverable disaster. They're banking on 'product innovation' to win new & expand customers next year to make up for the losses, but we all know how that is going to turn out under this third-rate leadership team. I bet you that 2027 is going to be brutal in terms of layoffs, so definitely action on your exit strategy if you haven't already started.

@e8 Spot on. This has been true of "leadership" for quite a while. Rare to see them buying their company's stock or what they are selling.

Just cashing out as shares vest.

According to InsiderTrades.com, the leprechaun hasn’t bought one share in five years and dumped 20,000 shares in May 2026. There have been zero purchases by insiders in 12 months. Does he know something he’s not sharing?

@a2 What business in their right mind would buy this turkey? It will simply slowly spiral in. It could last years.

I hope the inanely grinning leprechaun sold his stock before the collapse.

Declining revenue and they are already telling the street that revenue will be terrible for Q3. The slide continues. This is a penny stock held together with glue and sticky tape. Whilst everything else with an AI label attached grows significantly, teradata continues to be the dud in the market

From StockStory

Teradata’s (NYSE:TDC) Q2 CY2026 Sales Beat Estimates But Stock Drops 17%

Revenue Growth
A company’s long-term sales performance can indicate its overall quality. Any business can put up a good quarter or two, but many enduring ones grow for years. Over the last five years, Teradata’s demand was weak and its revenue declined by 2.6% per year. This was below our standards and suggests it’s a low quality business.

Running out of heads to chop to help EPS and make things look peachy...3rd QTR 2026 is doom and gloom as reality continues to set in.

For the third quarter of 2026:

Recurring revenue in the range of -4% to -2% year-over-year
Total revenue in the range of -6% to -4% year-over-year
GAAP diluted EPS is expected to be in the range of $0.27 to $0.31 per share
Non-GAAP diluted EPS is expected to be in the range of $0.55 to $0.59 per share(2)

@a2 Well, if it was Teradata AI, it’s probably wrong.

The smell of Takeover / Leveraged Buyout is strong with today’s results.
