Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

DXC two UK data centres

Wouldn’t a big win be using those two for AI as is very in vogue at the moment ?

Or look at the land and see if you could build a new AI DC room attacked to them ?
That would make sense though.,.

At DXC provisioning a server requires endless spreadsheets, and a long wait. Any mistakes take months to fix. At AWS or Azure, you can have something running in minutes and if it's not right just tare it down and redo it as often as you like. The whole project is finished before you've even got a DXC data centre engineer to acknowledge receipt.

None of our UK dc's are big enough in terms of power or cooling for high density heavy power/heat that is used for ai hosting.

No money in small scale.

The servers we have just spin away doing not a lot. Certain clients like to have a whole dedicated VM just to achieve a simple file transfer. They then replicate the setup for DEV, TEST, UAT, QA and PROD. There's no room for AI - when we need 5 servers waiting for a file that lands once a month! They don't care, they have money to burn, and DXC is quite happy to bill them for these 5 servers.
