Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

AI - Is your manager scared or promoting

It seems like a lot of managers and executives are taking their time.

I'm not sure if people really know what AI is and how it can help

We have it but are limited to how much we can use it for.

Luminare employee- Not AI but we were told that we “need” to automate more claims processing in today’s town hall

Our dpt/division is discussing making “using ai” mandatory as part of your goals. It is all our vp talks about. Ridiculous.

Copilot is hot garbage, and we all know it. But it beats the company blowing millions of dollars on useless tokens.

@dq so so true. We like to say we are conservative in our business but the reality is that we are cheap and technologically and intellectually challenged. But above all- we make sure that leadership makes bank.

Butt clowns.

By the time HCSC fully design an AI strategy will be 2040 or later. We are an organization that move at snail pace, so I'm not worried about AI. I'm more worried about executives filling their pockets while there's a clear shift in the healthcare industry. You will notice that every time they announce a reorg an executive just get reshuffled to get a larger paycheck and they call that "strategic". This is all that trickle down economics that politicians have been preaching for decades.

@d3 disregard first comment. Reread the question. Management in our area is working to try implementing its use. It’s too early to tell how successful an AI implementation will be especially since there’s really no budget to do a new work in the area.

A lot of people are worried that if we have AI, eventually we'll lose our jobs.

We continue to work on improving manual department process.
