I can’t see why no nothing with never ever be done with something ain’t have before can do no wrong and then you really might know what it's like.
@d4 You write like someone who mistakes being a loud, bitter a--hole for having a personality. That wasn’t a comeback. it was a public demonstration of why nobody respects you.
I thought wellness week was invented due to the stress of Covid as a mental health gift. Now that's long past, they probably figured its purpose was over.
@an more than just 10k, you gotta remember EHQ, China, and Singapore. Then the first line workers getting an additional days which was also paid out due to California. Wellness Week was significant cost on labor and productivity.
It was so bad, they were considering changing summer Fridays or the PTO policy. You all would’ve exploded over that more than wellness.
Only thing, I didn’t like is the way they did it and how they announced it. Just be real, say hey the business isn’t doing well, we’re changing things up. This was the easiest decision on the table vs considering other things. People would’ve been way more on board if that was the case.
1/3 took the week before off PTO.
Another 1/13 took the week after off PTO.
Complete gridlock as nothing got done, or worse for the other 1/3, NO decisions made to move the chains forward from early August to after Labor Day.
Unindented consequences ….
@ax You’re right—it may be closer to $40 million. Thanks for correcting the math and making corporate greed look twice as ‘flexible.’ 😂
The average fully loaded salary is much higher than 100k. So it’s likely double your estimate. But now you are flexible. lol
I was one of lucky ones that got picked in April. Now, every week is a wellness week.
@am Five days across 10,000 employees earning an average of $100K represents roughly $19.2 million in PTO value. The actual payout savings depend on who leaves and what the company’s policy covers but I’m sure reducing that liability had absolutely nothing to do with this inspiring new commitment to “employee flexibility.” 😂
It saves money given it was 5 free pto days. Now you use your own pto days and when they lay you off the pto payout is smaller. Now calculate the cost of 5 pto days for 10k people. That’s your savings.
@ae Unwind from what, exactly—all the backbreaking labor happening at PHK? 😂 Meanwhile, people with actual jobs are trying to decide whether this level of entitlement is supposed to be comedy, satire, or a cry for help.
@a9 I don’t understand why they didn’t just move it to during Dim the Lights. People are off for the holidays anyways so it’s a way for everyone to still get time off to unwind while also saving face by not getting rid of wellness week
We will never see the data, but I would assume a lot. I loved being able to disconnect a week, but the entire month of August was a nightmare ahead of back to school and holiday. Everyone takes weeks off before it, and after it, and that just compounds with time off during the summer anyways. You are losing the entire month of August because of it. Everyone always having to explain "why didn't X get done" or last year GT had the re-org and none of the teams were even entirely together until September let alone operationlized.
Don't get me wrong, I loved the free week off with no email and recharge. The damage it did to work and getting stuff done was rough. I don't love not having it, but we should all understand it.
Given where Nike is we I see why they can't afford things to slow down or be delayed.
