Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Why not move RIF'd to open spots?!

I see lots of jobs open so why are they not trying to move people who are on the RIF list to these spots? Yes, some require specialized degrees, such as nurses, but many of them don't. In 90% of these jobs, people can be trained to do them. Why would they let experience walk out the door? People who've been here for years could easily transition. Is it because they're going to bring in new folks at lower pay? Make it make sense.

@am this is common in the business world but not always the case. I think Centene is just trying to save money at any cost including quality of work and productivity

they want those who have been around a while (older in age and tenure) out completely to bring in new, young blood with new idea. The younger the better. typically those without families don't need as much money to live on

@OP yes I think that is exactly the plan. Ppl that have been with Centene for years mk a great salary, especially if they have moved around a lot. Therefore bringing in new ppl with base salaries will save a ton of money.

Regardless of what you know the last in is always the 1st to go.
Dedication and loyalty means nothing. Be truer to yourself because you’re just a number to them. The people who do the discussion are the ones that are not connected to the employees so it doesn’t bother them at all. Shells of lack of no remorse . But never underestimate your opponent even if they are faking like the care. The values that’s been shown is oblivious to the concerns of the workers. Unfortunately, this will not sit well with the outcome of it all.

@OP because they are backfilling the positions at a lower pay. I had several leaders confirm the positions they backfill will be paid less.

@OP Humana did this after layoffs. You could choose to take the new position or leave. I left. Did the job for the last 60 days of my employment and did not like it.

Totally agree! This is exactly what is done in some oil and gas industries before a layoff. I learned after joining Centene that layoffs happen every year, so maybe it's inevitable...
