Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

watching this go down while on vacation is truly something...

I knew this week was going to be layoff week, but to see this playing out is crazy.

I should not be on this forum while on vacation, however... it's like disaster p0rn, can't look away. I also want to try to prepare for whatever nonsense I'm going to log back in to.

I'm already out (took the VSP with a 9/4 separation date) but I just KNOW the next three weeks are going to be an absolute sh-tshow until I leave. the people who make the restructuring decisions typically don't understand any of the existing processes, which means a whole lot of unnecessary confusion for those who actually do the work.

they always preach, "it's business as usual, nothing is changing blah blah blah..." and none of this is business as usual. it hasn't been for almost two months now.

@ar you are NOT the only one that feels this way... literally SO MANY YEARS of having this job come before everything else in my life sometimes.... only to feel like an afterthought . Even the ones who manage to keep their jobs after this round feel like complete garbage watching their long time coworkers and friends just get tossed like that. It feels like a punch in the stomach. I feel sick.

Also on vacation and I'm only allowing myself a few hours of today to read up on it. I'm not going to let them ruin my time with family.

@aq I’ll speak for myself but for the many years I’ve been employed here I have gone above and beyond- constantly for coworkers, bosses, members- I am overwhelmed, stretched thin and being asked what feels like every week to do a new task or assessment which I have done with little to no complaints or issue. So YEAH awesome work ethic- signed very sincerely by someone who is exhausted and paid their dues to centene without issue until being treated like cr-p now

@a9

Read the fine print of your VSP documents.

They very well may have added in something re: stipulating that in order for you to get the VSP $, you are expected to do whatever's requested of you with work tasks, until your last work day.

The last thing you need at this point is for them to be able to yank it out from under you, due to "insubordination" or whatever. It su-ks to have to train someone on your way out, but just look at it as you're doing a humanitarian good deed, for which you're being generously compen$ated. Don't think of it as you're doing Centene any favors, it's more of a humble way of being of service via a farewell passing of the torch to an unfortunate fellow human being who will be stuck in that heIIpit after you've freed yourself from it.

@a9 not on vaca but took VSP and was given a 2027 separation date- now quitting next month bc I am just over it and found something else. Doing NO work bc sc--w them right now ask me to leave early if you want. Squeezing every dime out of them at this point

@a9 Good for you! Let them figure it out! How incredibly rude and tone deaf can they be!

Same. Took some much-needed PTO and have a 9/4 date also for VSP. now with little over 3 weeks until I am outa this place, don't expect much to be done from me. They want me to train others to do what I do. Should have thought harder about this VSP rollout before giving it as an option. I will not train anyone to do what I do. If I wasn't important enough before this, I am not important now. I am just a number that will be free of this sinking ship come 9/4.
