Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

MW will still be CEO 10 years from now at this rate

We are never getting free of him. That SETH answer was pretty much “I don’t want to retire, the board is happy with me, your happiness doesn’t matter, take your extra money and shut up”

Historically, CVX has always promoted an internal candidate for CEO. Typically, that individual’s age is 55 or younger so they have a 10 year run for continuity. No current executive of that age seems like a fit.

The hess guy sold his company because he did not want to be a CEO anymore. That is why he is on the board, they board still gets tickets to cool events and other perks but don't have the headaches of running a company.

This shows how little confidence there is in the remainder of the executives that there's no plans at all to replace MW who is already above the mandatory retirement age. Even the BOD finds them to be insufferable clowns. I expect MW is replaced by an external hire before any of those creatures get the job.
