Will re-join the sandpaper lab this fall (worked there 8 years ago). seen lots changed in 8 years. All managers, from VP to supervisors, are new faces from CRPL, and all senor technical folks are new faces. Talked with some folks in the lab and they are not much friendly. Met few old friends who are still working there but seems not very happy either. not sure it is a right move.

Of course you're sure, congrats on the promotion! Did you expect to see everyone the same as 8 years ago and no change?
Abrasive division is the place where CRPL sends its best and brightest leaders. Of course in 3M, leaders stand for managers.
Managers in 3M, manage their careers pretty well, by transfering from one division to the other, getting promoted in the process. Meanwhile if you are a worker bee, promotion is a taboo word. Bring it up and your manager stares at you as if you asked the hardest question in astrophysics ! Fun times indeed.

The fact that top to bottom management is from CRPL shows that they do not have product development or customer experience. Sorry to say the division is in a fiasco.
