Lowballing offers

A question for others who've been applying: have you been getting lowball offers all over the place? With pay being around 50% of what it should be based on all the factors, including your experience?

Not at all - I had 3 offers above what I was making at Oracle (part of the 3/31 RIF). There is huge demand out there for expertise in Oracle and the SI’s are competing for the best.

Don’t look at offer for now. With oracle in your resume you are outdated with skills. Try to improve your skills for next few months or years to withstand upcoming paradigm shifts

@be Very true. The law of supply and demand. More job seekers than openings, so that overgenerous supply will keep the prices/offers low.

These companies don't want to have to pay any more than they have to, and right now they don't have to.

It is am employers market. If you don't take the offer someone else will. Take the job and keep looking. It is actually easier to get hired when you already have a job.

Take the 50% offer. With this job market you could do much worse.

This is how recruiting at oracle works: extreme lowball and promise RSUs.

I knew someone who accepted and was rif’d in 1 year. Luckily they got the first chunk of rsu…

They were based in an at-will state so could no nothing

The job market is flooded with recently laid off employees. Naturally, there will always be someone to accept the lower salary and hiring companies know this.
