I was put on a PIP today. Should I expect to be on the RA list in september?

If you are in the US and were put on a PIP today, they will exit you via the PIP. Severance for a PIP is 30 days, RA is 90 days. Cost less to exit someone via a PIP
@js US or Canada?
Was also put on pip recently. North America. Positive prior work ratings. Document everything
@fh Just have all your ducks in a row and you will win. IBM cannot defeat documented facts and the truth. We all know IBM is we-ponizing PIPs and low-performer designations to support RAs, with HR complicit in the process. This isn’t just speculation—there are already cases involving allegations of IBM using performance processes as pretexts, including Dill v. IBM, Miller v. IBM, and Stickler v. IBM. Document your performance history, accomplishments, timeline, and everything surrounding the PIP. When the facts are on your side, it’s very difficult for them to rewrite the story after the fact.
@f4
IBM executives and lawyers are becoming sloppy and stupid. With luck, there might a smart lawyer.
@ev still doesn’t hurt to shoot a call and find out. That call might lead you to millions
@ej that’s not how all lawyers work. Some don’t give free consults and charge by the hour and you keep all you win
@dv just fyi all lawyers will consult for free and tell if there is a case or not. If so and you win they take 30%
If you can share your details we can better advise you. Age, s-x, skin color, how many years, country, band level, your role etc. Much easier to put sales people on PIPs since they change territories every 6 mos. If your assigned customers are lousy or just dormant on buying then you will produce low and be PIP'd. Did not used to be like that.
@ds or just sue them. Maybe then they will finally learn a good lesson. It will sink in
Interesting how management has no
honor or integrity left and lies to put a previous high performer on a PIP. You will have to live with your conscious
@b2 Are they really that good? They’ve lost age-discrimination (“Dino Babies”), DEI, and other discrimination cases over the past decade. At end of the day facts are facts. IBM are the ones manipulating the truth in most of these cases. Closing this PIP misuse loophole seems fairly straightforward if the documentation is properly established. They can say, “You were a low performer here,” and the obvious response is, “Then explain how I was rated a high performer for the previous X years.” At that point, the inconsistency speaks for itself. Case closed.
Don't worry. Drink some Kool-Aid. IBM is a sinking ship and you're better off away from Big Blue.
Definitely sue if you can
@ay agreed time to make them use pip correctly and not we-ponized it as stated by the documentation
@b2 I reached the same conclusion,
@ay I agree with everything except suing them. IBM's sleazy lawyers are too powerful. Do what I do instead: Steal everything in sight. I've got reams of paper, loads of Sharpies, pens, pencils, an expensive ergonomic office chair, a mini refrigerator, stereo speakers, etc. My latest find is a "hidden" store of laptops, monitors, and other accessories. It's behind a locked door, but there's an adjacent room that's unlocked and has a a wonky shared closet. So I go into the unlocked room, through the unlocked wonky closet doors, and into the secure (LOL!) room full of laptops and accessories. I've already helped myself to two beautiful monitors. So much for IBM security! ROTFLMFAO
Sue them to get paid. We all know this pip stuff is not above board. Document everything. Keep all emails and forms. And sue
@ap “Generally no severance for a PIP” – that’s not applicable for all countries though. I think for Canada, you still get severance for PIP layoffs.
Probably not. Generally no severance for a PIP, 3 months severance (5 months for letter bands) for an RA.
The mathematical equation is: PIP = SOL.
if you are lucky. More likely just exited through PIP before there is an RA.
Sorry to hear mate. Best to apply bo-b every opening you see. GTFO on your terms before the kick you out
Which region are you in?
