Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Rebadged employees, how did it work out for you?

For those that were offered a rebadge in the past and accepted it, I'd like to know:

  1. How was the transition?
  2. How long was the initial contract?
  3. How long did it actually last?
  4. Did you train your replacement?
  5. Did the consulting company expect you to work 60+ hours / week?
  6. Did the work life balance change?

Thank you.

The vast majority of folks re-badged to HCL are gone already. They got everything Verizon promised and one year of employment at HCL. That's it

7.5 years later still employed with Infosys. Some of us moved to other clients. It depends on your skill set. Mts4 that have high salaries don’t fare so well though as it’s all about pay grade during the mapping not actual job title. High pay means they expect manager level work.

"Rebadged" from Nextel/Sprint to Ericsson (Yes, with the pedo looking Hans as CEO), back in 2009. I was a wireless Tech. "No big deal" the Suits said. NO pay/benefit/seniority changes, just under a different company. Well, it was true, until about a year later and salary reductions ensued, followed by, of course, enhanced layoffs. We were lied to many times.
For example, as "Senior Techs", we were told we had better sign up for this team that had to travel around performing work on other carriers (such a TMO - yes, Ericsson wh0r&d themselves to anyone, not just Sprint), or risk having our position eliminated. I ALMOST did it, but changed my mind. About 6 mos later they fired that entire group. LOL. Of course, IMO, the outsourcing ki-led Sprint much as the purchase of Nextel, but it was a true Sh!tshew to watch. I bailed to VZW in 2010 and remember walking in to the RNC and thinking...WOW!! Look at all these PEOPLE! I thought VZ must be impervious to layoffs. And, they WERE! For a while.....

While I declined the 2018 rebadge to Infosys, I can tell you that several of my colleagues who took the offer are still employed 6 years later. They were guaranteed one year of employment with like benefits. They are still doing the same job they were doing before, with the same expectations of meeting deadlines. They get raises and bonuses, maybe not as large as Vz, but let's face it, Vz isn't giving much in raises anymore either. Bottom line is they remained employed for the last 6 years and are relatively content. Many thought they'd be canned after a year. Take this for what it's worth. I think much depends on your role and the managed service company that is taking the contract.

Well we haven’t been rebadged yet right. Those that have been are already gone. Moved on to greener pasture or not. So who the heck do you think is going to actually answer your question? If you or we get rebadged. Well you will roll with the punches right, or fold up. So what? Look it isn’t fair for this rumor of rebadging to hang over anyones heads so long. Nonetheless it is. So just work your hours and log off. Outside of work you can try to start your own thing. Alternatively you can aggressively cut your expenses and stack money while you have a job. Control the controllables, trust yourself, and keep stepping. One thing is for sure. Putting in extra hours for VZ is a fool’s errand. Take that for whatever it means to you.
