Does anyone know the real truth about stch site? How long will this site stay open? I’m a shell contractor and I have a family and I need this job but I hear that it’s going to stay open for a few more years . I don’t know if anyone is telling me the truth. Any help would be appreciated

Big Ben,
You don’t need to worry. Shell is “of the contractors, by the contractors, and for the contractors.”
Contractors are rarely, if ever, laid off at Shell. There have been locations and ongoing projects where the majority of Shell employees were laid off while contractors remained. Some of these contractors arrived late to the worksite, loitered around, spent a disproportionate amount of time at the coffee machine, and delivered minimal output. Yet they weren’t let go, largely because of their networking abilities and because they don’t challenge their leaders on technical or cost-related issues.
Contractors don’t necessarily care if Shell loses money because of a poor technical or financial decision. They get paid regardless of their technical competence.
Follow the rules above, and you’ll be fine. Bonus tip: bring lunch for your Shell leaders or take them out for lunch or dinner.
there are zero posts on this site claiming there will be cuts at STCH besides this one
so you can go to bed now PR lady
The email from Colette was specifically about Woodcreek. It is mentioned OTM and STCH will continue supporting businesses where they are.
I would not be too concerned about posts on this site.
Things done there are crucial to those businesses. Be crazy expensive to move those labs. Site will get smaller but maybe r waiting on yes/no for Chemicals or other Downstream sales decision. Dunno if there are takers on renting out space. Companies using less commercial office space since COVID. Wood Creek has similar issue. Can ask people to go, but most those were prior at One Shell and have houses in Kingwood, Pearland or other. Not easy to go out to "nearly-Katy" for them. Some have moved but not all can.
If personnel cuts at STCH are planned, there is no evidence for it and leadership keeps saying that there are none coming.
I am not sure what you’re hoping for here or what you have heard. The cut discussions that I see revolve around India and Woodcreek.
