I’m hearing talk of VSP’s being offered to Verizon retail corporate store employees very soon. How is this possible when every location is adding headcount and jobs are being posted ?

Our area is getting a reduction in headcount
Yeah the store audits were to observe employee productivity. Overall traffic is down Y2Y at most of the corporate locations. Everyone is getting head count bumped up because of leadership changes. Coming soon.
@v2+1m0fqva66 What do you mean by store audits ? Do you mean when they had outside company doing floor observations ?
v2+1m0fqva66,So the rumors about the Ast mgrs is really on the table. Makes sense that unproductive employees will become productive (Sales) If you're in the know will they be let go or transitioned into sales reps. It's going to be tough for them from delegating everything in a store (opening location, closing location, inventory, merchandising)to actually doing these tasks and selling on the floor. The shock might lead them to get some sort of job counseling for that work transition.
The additional head count has nothing to do with a VSP. They are preparing for a RIF with managers. Going forward they will have just the store manager role with at least 2-3 key holder type jobs even though everyone has keys. The new key holder role will have slightly more responsibilty that comes with a smalll bump in hourly. This decision was based on individual store audits that happened over the last year.
VPS on a 4 year employee gives you 8 weeks pay. Enjoy your $5k after tax. All your problems are solved... for 90 days. Just move to Portland or New York and become a damn socialist already so you can live off the government and dye your hair blue while touting trans rights and no person is illegal on stolen land.
If this is not another rumor and it's true, mgmt and HR have an idea (number) of how many in retail would likely take it. And now are hiring for the holiday season too fill the jobs likely leaving. A couple of months ago a post on this site claimed when verizon closed 270stores( to resellers) they would offer a VSP to employees in retail, that was just a rumor. I believe they should offer it because I believe the writings on the wall regarding corporate retail and the conditions have deteriorated from a pos system that is almost inoperable, to quotas and micromanaging of kpis a morale issue. So for me I hope this pans out to be true.
