Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Cursed are the Q management who decided to lay off top performers due to looking after newborns

All top performers in my current company come back stronger after taking FMLA for looking after their newborns. Q management was too short-sighted and failed to view “being responsible of one’s household” as a transferable skill that benefits the company in the long term. One of many reasons why it descended so quickly. Q management are full of foolish people.

@d8 No, it doesn’t make sense. It is difficult to find consistent top performers, and it’s worth the costs to keep them when they need support the most. They cannot be replaced by anyone with shining resumes. Many Q managers have stellar CV but are useless. Sadly they are the ones who can influence layoff decisions

If you have kids, you should have one parent looking after them full time. Kids want to be raised by their parents, not day care.

Makes sense from company POV, even though unfair from society POV.
Will be gone half the time for daycare pickups/ appointments, and additional insurance to cover.

Plus their current review will be whacked due to nothing to show. Very hard to show discrimination as well.
