Because management needs a bigger house and another luxury car! What, you think it's going to actually "trickle down" to the people actually doing the work?
Because management needs to keep the slaves, er, um, individual contributors scared and still working overtime to produce more at deflated wages. And, you can't imagine they can survive with just one big house and luxury car, right? Think of "leadership"!
