Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Layoffs, remote workers, and Lead to One

In order to fully actualize Lead to One fundamentals across the employee base, are all remote workers eventually going to be let go regardless of performance?

@wa Lead to One is none of those things and yet all of them at the same time. Good job feeding it into AI and getting some type of answer out of it. Yet none of it makes sense.

@OP it’s not just remote workers. It’s pretty much all base level USA workers they wanna get rid of.

The "Lead to One" initiative emphasizes shifting away from fragmented, rigid silos to deliver seamless, hyper-personalized consumer care. Executive leadership views the physical office as the primary vehicle to achieve this cohesion.

Fosters Spontaneous Cross-Segment Innovation:

"Lead to One" relies heavily on integrating Cigna Healthcare with Evernorth. Corporate leadership notes that complex problem-solving and brainstorming are most effective in person, allowing teams to organically build on each other's ideas to construct integrated consumer plans.

Ensures Unified Enterprise Culture:

A core pillar of "Lead to One" is cross-company agility. RTO policies are designed to build a thriving office environment that fosters inclusion, shared mission alignment, and team connectivity, all elements corporate leadership explicitly states are necessary to support company growth and impact.

Accelerates Mentorship and Rapid Training:

Because "Lead to One" introduces complex new roles, like specialized care advocates and digital care-navigation trackers, real-time collaboration ensures that employees can master new customer-satisfaction pipelines quickly via shoulder-to-shoulder coaching.

While Cigna still retains hybrid flexibilities for certain roles, corporate strategy positions permanent, 100% remote work as an impediment to achieving "Lead to One" metrics.

Exacerbates Corporate Silos:

When employees work fully remotely, they naturally default to communicating strictly within their immediate teams. This isolation directly contradicts the "Lead to One" objective of breaking down structural barriers between pharmacy, clinical, and medical benefits.

Slows Down Operational Streamlining:

A primary goal of the initiative is to radically simplify post-care claims processing and administrative friction. In-person command centers can align billing, clinical, and tech personnel instantly to resolve bottlenecks, whereas permanent remote workflows create communication lag.

Dilutes Customer-Centric Urgency:

Under "Lead to One," executive compensation is explicitly tied to customer and patient satisfaction. Leadership argues that a distributed, purely digital workforce can experience cultural detachment, making it harder to sustain the collective, high-empathy focus required to treat patients "one person at a time."

I'm not sure how you came to the conclusion that lead to one also equals cutting remote jobs completely.
