I had a colleague who bragged about not taking a single day off in two decades. He saw it as a mark of character, as something to aspire to. I told him he was a fool and he was genuinely surprised. That kind of thinking is exactly what's wrong with Elevance culture. There's nothing noble about sacrificing your health and your family for a company that would replace you in a week.

@OP How sad to tell your family this place is more important than you - how many special events have you missed, how many times can your family (if you have one) hear that you can't take a vacation with them, because it is more important to be able to say "I have not taken a PTO day in 2 decades"
You know what will all think of you - loser - same as your boss - same as this place - and we say thank you for not getting in the way of us taking our time off. Get a grip there is no prize for this
Do you feel pressure to not take vacation? Perhaps I am oblivious and about to get fired, but no one has said anything to me. 🤷♂️
Replace you within a day then never make mention of you again. I've seen it happen year after year after year.
We are the Starving Giants and are proud to work every day of the year without taking a day off, breaking our backs, risking our mental health, all for the good of the corporation!

Yes, agree with the OP’s post. Take care of yourselves and put yourself and your families first before a corporation that will someday replace you without any thought nor any sympathy.
