Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

Fun times coming to Engineering / Project Management

The local folks are about to start Engineering projects, managing them and handling the billing when all is said and done. If you thought you were backlogged before, get ready! Just heard about it in Denver.

National done this years ago with only contract engineers for new builds. The glorified title of a NIPM covers anything they force on you. Wait until your coworkers leave and you’re stuck by yourself. No new req’s for backfills and all we hear is for us to utilize AI more.

I'm surprised Lumen hasn't started using AI engineering.

Default is to always task the Engineer with more and more. Then throw in a broken new system on top of it all that requires 10 steps for what used to take 2-3. The sausage factory conveyor belt has now ground to a halt.

It's not entirely end-to-end. Just making sure contract engineer firms get paid in a timely manner.

And how abouts does one refer to "local" nowadays?

Was under the impression Engineering was contracted out several years ago... asking for a friend in Midwest is all
