Bad news for RTO trolls on this site. Joe Russo just confirmed the RTO policy is "not a top down one size fits all" policy. He said he encourages everyone to talk to their managers to see what they need to do to be most effective in delivering business outcomes. He also hinted that more company real estate sales will continue.

RTO only makes within some distal radius, otherwise it is cost effective, to either the company or the worker. Real Estate is very expensive to maintain, didn't anyone at Verizon learn anything during COVID, business travel expenses almost went to zero, a big cost savings for a telecom, some took advantage of the work from home policy more than the should have. now since the layoffs Associate Directors taking days off to attend baseball games, golfing versus managing their direct reports who when their manager is away accomplish nothing. Some took advantage of the liberal PTO policy for sick time. Others may have attended 40 hours of calls, sent a few slack messages, then big push in the fall to show something of little value got accomplished. Some groups actually assemble a plan, some groups sort of never get much done, but report 98% complete on projects or magical security metrics that have no validity. Hopefully that will change
