Title. I’d imagine folks here agree but want to get personal thoughts, observations or anecdotes. What is the future of this company for its employees? A more transactional model? Is this company that the older employees extol the same company that were living in now? Will the pension be around long term?

How come! We are Exxon!
EM was a great place to be. It's now a great place to leave (name recognition). Go now. Or suffer when the EM name no longer carries weight.
How about reduce executive pay by $2billion to achieve savings
It may seem impossible to leave but there is so much opportunity in the U.S. right now if you’re willing to be flexible on location and cash / equity split. You don’t have to settle.
Just look at what is happening in Canada. That will be US in a few years.
The company is gone. Retirees and those who have left have no clue what it is like now. It will only get worse. I strongly recommend leaving. That is what I am doing. Active job search for new role outside of ExxonMobil. This place is going downhill faster than I ever could have imagined possible.
Currently is transactional and will continue to be so for the rest of its existence. This is the new normal. There will be no going back even after we hit the 2030 structural cost saving target as there will another target and then another. The target already changed from $18 billion to $20 billion. In order to maintain that you either have to give no raises or continue to cut workforce.
