Can managers just fire anyone they don’t like. Haven’t talked to manager in about six weeks

If “manager” is a negative force in your situation than no contact can be a positive variable; don’t expect unbiased assistance from the over abundance of nepo; control the age of your career while you can….
As a former manager, yes you can but it’s a major, major pain and takes ages. Even if it’s someone who should be fired because they’re not doing their job correctly or not adhering to the “values” of the company it takes so long. Investigations have to be done, evidence has to be provided, etc. We had someone that was inappropriately texting interns and even then it took about 2 months for that person to just be moved to another department and then fired. Someone was purposely misusing a corporate card and even that took almost 2 months. The only 2 times I ever saw someone fired on the spot was they threatened to as--ult/mortally wound someone in management and the other was when people lied about getting the C19 vaccine when they were giving out bonuses for that. So yes, they can fire you but it’s a lot, and I mean a lot of work on your manager’s plate to do so. I had someone who should’ve been let go but the processes was absurd and I was checked out by the time it would’ve mattered.
If you work in an "at will" state, then the answer would be an emphatic "yes."
