You really can drop to the bottom in one cycle. It is common when being transferred out of a group or after a CL promotion.

@c8 keep telling yourself that. Hard work has nothing to do with it. It is more luck and getting the right role. They don’t even try to hide it anymore.

@b5 I went up an assessment level this year after my CL bump in Dec so it’s not like you automatically get MLRP or lower assessment just because of CL bump.

The NSI usually happens after a promotion when the promotion was based on long tenure in prior CL. There used to be an upper limit on how many years you could sit at a CL before you got a non-discretionary promotion. I believe those time limits are gone. But getting stuck at a CL for a long time is a sure sign that the company has absolutely zero commitment to developing your career further, so naturally you will become rank list fodder for subsequent cycles.

Happened to me after a CL promotion and one of the largest raises that I ever received. When from the top 1/3 to the bottom NSI bucket one month after a promotion.

You have to ask, "If I was NSI material, why did you promote me to the next CL level?" Anwer: We need someone in the next CL level to NSI to protect the incumbents in the group.
