Boulder City Faces Budget Cuts

Boulder's proposed 2027 budget includes significant staffing reductions and service modifications due to slowing revenue growth. The city manager's office released a $552.6 million budget with a projected $6.3 million shortfall in the general fund. These financial pressures will lead to 13 employee layoffs and the elimination of 11 vacant positions. Additionally, some city services, like photo radar enforcement and Spruce Pool funding, will be reduced or eliminated. The budget also allocates funds for new initiatives and positions in areas like public safety and climate resilience.
