h1b and greencard sponsorship

How come bony can periodically layoff tenured folks and still hire and sponsor 100s of h1bs

They use H1Bs to offset layoffs to create the appearance that there are no net headcount reductions. They have Finance and HR people track this at every level and every location so their shell game is played without triggering Federal and State WARN Act notification requirements. They’ve been doing this for years. I’m sorry this happening globally. In the past mostly American jobs were impacted.

Staff in Ireland office are being replaced by Indians in Ireland. I feel like a minority being white now, never mind being Irish. One side of the new floor seems 100% Indian. Is this step two of downsizing Ireland? Step 1 close wexford and cork. Will step 3 be move the roles to India.
Its very worrying. It has changed the whole culture in the office.

BNY has stopped sponsoring H1 B or actively recruiting new people with these visas..there are folks who have already been hired in these categories who still work at the bank though, the current criteria to obtain employment at the bank in the US is you have to be a permanent resident or citizen ..offshoring and building Pune or Poland is a different story altogether and needs attention..

We have also noticed how many higher-ups (ahead of our direct reports in America) are in Pune. It appears the goal is to take over BNY.
