Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Internal applications

This internal process seems quite nerve wrecking… you would think if you have been in the company for some time they would consider that and make it more easy to obtain a job especially if you have all qualifications.
I put an application for a higher grade and then a same grade position and interviewed for the higher grade position… I figured try to find something before my internal status ends… now I received an email at a very random time in the middle of the night that I am not being considered for the same level role. Which now makes me wonder what’s going to happen since I had hope the same role level was my backup….. anyone has experience with applying to internal roles that were successful??

I have made two internal shifts and both times i just didnt just cold applied like i was an external applicant. I leveraged my internal status to my advantage - NETWORK! Long before i applied i learned about the role i wanted, upped my qualifications with certs, trainings etc, networked with employees on that team, expressed interest to the manager, emailed the recruiter after i applied. Essentially i became a face behind my cn number - i became relatable so i was able to breeze through and get an interview and once i got that interview i sold myself like a car salesman and got the job.

I was planning to buy a house and have my aging mother move in with me so I could sort of return the favor for her taking care of me as a child and hopefully make her final years here on Earth a little better. But these lousy corporate greedy executives took care if that by nickel and diming us American workers by replacing us with Indians.

Makes me a little bit angry when I consider I served my country in the military for almost a decade , only to be treated like this.

Try applying for hundreds of jobs you are overqualified for and be rejected. This is very normal.

@OP I applied for 43 open positions during my 4 1/2 years at Centene. I only had 4 or 5 interviews. The random 4am emails that said I wasn't being considered for the role were normal. There is virtually no opportunity for advancement in the CM Dept. It seems like once you're in CM, they want to hold you hostage. Until they're done with you. I gladly took VSP effective 9/4. Good luck to you!!
