Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Management Layers

The company is fundamentally misunderstanding what needs to happen to the structure of the organization - they are busy pushing out people who do things instead of people who manage things. It's the management layers that wont be needed in the future - they can be replaced by AI. The loss of knowledge and expertise provided by the doers will impact the corporation not the removal of management layers which are just there to polish KPIs and powerpoints. The top heavy organization will crash in on itself. It's time to cut the exec layers.

Most accurate post I've ever seen on here......

Look no further than procurement at the Big B's - You have a 1:1 ratio of manager to direct report and all they are there to do is help put tickets in

Go up the org chart and it balloons with managers/advisors/chiefs, etc

Same with BA and India

Scrap all of it and a couple of worker bees at each site, and lets run this sumb!tch lean and mean...

But that would make too much sense and the consulting firms that are feeding from the trough would never allow it.....

it's become completely ridiculous. Our most recent restructure has spawned even more managers in my area, who in turn, are trying their best to offshore our work.

My first line supervisor wasted a tremendous amount of our group’s time with weekly one on one meetings in addition to requiring us to provide written updates all so she can appear to be in the know as she reports to her manager who then reports to his - you get the idea.
