I am thinking I should take a LOA but it might just make things worse.

Life is larger than EM … the co has been good at making people believe that it is the best and if you fall through its crack you are done …. This is not the reality … please take care and seek professional help … at the end of the day , it is only you that you have and matters
No amount of money replaces you. This is just a job. There are other jobs and even though you may earn less, you’ll make up for it in quality of life and maybe even longer life. Take a break or just take a leave. It’s not worth it for you or your family. Be safe and find the help you need!
Good to see people offering genuine advise. Humanity exists here in spite of all the negativity
Immediately check your finances and make a plan on when an LOA would be feasible. Perhaps seeing a plan written out can provide some consolation - you’re brilliance got you here…return to your greatness it’s in you…
Make sure you don't self-isolate. I've been there, and isolating makes things worse. Tell your family or a friend that you trust. My primary care doctor put me on medical leave and really helped me out when I needed it. You matter!!!
@ar Yup. Do not share details with HR, MOH, colleagues ... to avoid liability they immediately call 911 and you have to deal with a case from sate against you and you know the rest....
Your life has meaning. To you, to your family and friends, and to all the people you haven’t been able to meet yet. This company and your job are nowhere near as important as your life. If you’re having sui-idal thoughts, reach out to someone to talk. There’s the su----e hotline, but you can also reach out to friends and family - you don’t have to share that you’re sui-idal, but it may help you feel better about your place in this world.
If your job and the stress here is making you feel this way, then you should absolutely take a LOA or leave the company entirely. If you’re feeling sui-idal, you have nothing to lose by leaving and focusing on yourself and everything to gain. Best of luck, and always remember that you are loved.
@OP You don’t have to call crisis hotlines it is a trap. The healthcare system isn’t perfect, and some experiences can feel impersonal or overly procedural, every provider is trying to push medication or funnel people into hospitals. not a support system at all and getting out of that mental hospital is not easy they want you stay and be on medications so they can benefit. It makes you depressed seeing everyone trying to get out.I can write so much on this...
ExxonMobil offers up to eight free therapy sessions with approved providers. Most of those therapists aren’t there to diagnose or medicate you they mainly listen, help you unload, and give you space to process.
What isn’t useful is venting to your manager, teammates, HR, or MOH. Those channels exist to protect the company, not your emotional wellbeing, and they respond in procedural ways that can escalate things unnecessarily. You’re better off talking to people you trust family, close friends, people who actually care about you as a person.
If you’re overwhelmed, take time off. Be around people who make you feel grounded. Fill your days with activities, movement, routines, and things that keep your mind engaged. You don’t need to isolate yourself or carry everything alone. You just need support from the right places, not the ones that turn your personal struggles into corporate paperwork.
Life house is the company sponsored mental health.

or call 988 like the other person commented.
Just know that there is help for you if you reach out.
Please, see a doctor or therapist immediately.
No jobs that serious. Take the time off and seek some support my friend
Number one...get someone professional to talk to. Though it's been many years, I've been there...
Go to your doctor, get some basic checks to make sure there isn't something medical going on as well as the stress of working for EM (ie, severe anemia or thyroid issues). If the intrusive thoughts of su----e are strong, call 988 or do a live chat here: 988lifeline.org. Or go to the ER.
Things may turn into medical leave of absence, which should fall under Short Term Disability.
Second, in terms of the company I suspect location matters in terms of a regular, non-medical, Leave of Absence would being safe to do if you need your job with EM. For instance, if you were in Clinton, I'd recommend against it. They're trying to boot people off the site/out of the company here like we're fleas on a dog. :(
I wish you the best. Text a friend and just talk about anything to get the conversation going. But definitely try to hook up with a counselor/therapist as well.
I would say reach out to a counselor. The company will pay for a decent amount of sessions. We have already had 6 people in Carlsbad take their own life.
Please seek help before it’s too late!
