A few of my friends/ coworkers are leaving the company instead of relocating. I’m sad to lose great people. We did big things together and am close friends with many. I respect their choices and wish them well.
Hard to expect people to uproot their families when more layoffs in Houston are expected.
How many did not relocate? Is there %? Seems like a majority but may be my team.
They will be missed. Good luck.

@ex agree
So when are we gonna replace the current execs with low cost geography execs?
No way MW is worth $32 mil
@b2 It’s just that the workers in western countries cost more than companies are willing to pay. Leadership are willing to have substandard remote workers for the right price.
@c8 If there are any doubts that this is true, look at the location of the job opening ms. They’re backfilling those who left from offshore.
@OP
This is disappointing but I understand why people are choosing not to relocate. Why uproot your life and your fammilies life, for the risk of being laid off in Housotn over the next 4 years. The LT is frequently mentioning the "2030 Plan" without the clarification of staffing up the ENGINE with thousands of more employees.
@bn
Ah come on, Houston is a Mecca of wonderful weather!
@b9
The LT is not mentioning it becuase the Chevron Employee survey was a major gut punch in reality for the LT. The worker morale is teetering on "Meh".
@ap
I would guess starting in 2027 and into 2028. The goal is to staff up the Engine while eliminating the US workforce.
@a3
They are planning to replace Houston people with Engine staff, so I would say they are plannning to continue the layoffs but in more creative ways, e.g. using PIP to termination, forced attrition through relocation, and some of the younger and more qualified workers that have realized Chevron is not a long term employer in the US any more are choosing to find new jobs in the booming economy of Houston.
@b9 all areas. World wide. And you think the truth gets told in town halls? Bless you.
We need something exciting since that rain didn’t come as we were told.
We don't want to live in sh---y places. Goodbye CVX!
@b2 Being constantly told we work better in person and then shipping the workflows into a country with a time zone 12 hours in front of CA in order to be more efficient is the greatest lie the party told.
@b2 what areas? I've been in 2 different townhalls and this was not mentioned at all.
The hypocrisy of offshoring significant work flows across the world, while telling people in the USA that working in California or Colorado isn’t productive enough, is simply staggering. Not only that, short sighted and antiquated. Talent is leaving in droves for more modern/rationale work arrangements.
And yes, more layoffs. Contractors going first - big purge by EOY.
I heard similar but not sure exactly when - within 2026? next year?
@a3 I heard another 20% of the company will be laid off in Houston....never ending revolving door.
Wait. There's more layoffs in Houston expected? All I heard was that we're cutting the bottom 5% at PMP time. Is that what you mean by layoffs?
