That's not always been the truth, but it certainly is now. You're a line item. If they get rid of you, there's always someone else who will take your spot for less money. It doesn't matter how hard you work or how much you know. There's always somebody cheaper.

Ya no kidding. Cisco sees you as a number same as the government does. A number to be used, suppressed or eliminated all together doesnt matter to them. So take care of yourself and your own at all costs.
its true that every company is this way, but for some reason it felt like Cisco was actually proud of it

Wow we did not know that! Thank you so much for letting us know!!
is this your first time having a job at all? every company sees employees as a number.
True, but also true is there are much MUCH shittier jobs.
yeah 1000% - you are NOTHING to Cisco at the org level. You're team may love you, your boss may think you are great, your director may wish to never let go of you. Then one day.. (say July 20th) BAM you are now in a role you've never done in your life and everyone is "well... sink or swim motherf----rThis shithole of a company has doubled down on fu-k you employee.
