Are Areas and their Managers going to be affected?
Are Areas and their Managers going to be affected?
I am one of the Directors laid off
I got my notice yesterday. wireless is going to 6 markets rather than 4 areas consisting of 5 or six regions each. Expectation is about 8000 or so layoffs enterprise wide.

Just a bunch of noise, no valid content.
This is why it's all a crock, executives don't publicly announce RIF's until most have taken place, excluding those out on VC or medical leave. They call everyone together to let them know it happened, it's over, and everyone can get back to work... — read more
Retail stores will be unaffected
I would bet my salary that our store would have been closed, but I guess we dodged the bullet for now

If you are not on the call - it was said that (next week) the RIF notifications will go out to those affected.
No numbers have been shared with us yet, people in my group are speculating that this may be massive (I mean like tens of thousands of people). Also, the rumors about consolidating regions that showed up on this site a week ago are EXTREMELY... — read more

Comcast to Acquire Verizon
How likely is this?
Are you kidding me? The meeting at 10am pst is about IoT? Who cares! We want to know about the restructure/layoffs! Unbelievable!!
All I can say is, wow! Nobody cares about anything right now except knowing if they have a job or not. Work is not getting done, employees are distracted and to have a short notice, company wide, all employee webcast to talk about anything except... — read more

Lowell McAdams Does Not Get Wireline
OK, Lowell cut his teeth on the wireless side, he's worked with with AirTouch & PrimeCo. Our fearless leader now sees unions as completely unnecessary, costly and growth/profit hampering - he thinks they should go and that he can pull it off. Yet, he... — read more
I am a mgmt employee. I now have a greater sympathy for the union workers who fight for their rights.
It will be unethical for any company to treat people like consumables. There should be some difference between toilet paper and employees. You can not let these so called leaders treat employees as livestock and apply demand/supply economics.
Please review how wireless works!

A countdown clock? Seriously?
Anyone know anything about this? http://iot.verizon.com/index.html
In the next one year VZ stock will be around 38. Their wireless margins will become razor thin.
Next one year VZ stock will be around 38. Their wireless margins will become razor thin. They knew that and that is why they are investing into cloud, telematics, iot, wireless first video etc. However they are too late in most of these segments.

Will living with fear of RIF's be a new reality at VZW?
Even if you're not impacted; are you back on this board six months or a year from now? How can employees be productive with this type of stress?
Historical blunder- leadership believed that wireless would be a golden goose.Wireless has all the debt. Current VZ debt to equity ratio is 9.
Wireless has all the debt. Current VZ debt to equity ratio is about 9. Meaning that debt holders have a 9 times more claim on assets than equity holders.
Please spread the word and share this page. We need to fight back and let media know what's going on.
They can lay off tens of thousands only in silence.
