Topics regarding layoffs at Cigna

2/29

Anyone hearing anything today (2/29) on layoffs?

Are they done?

Wondering if they are taking a break from firing people?

I wish I could quit Cigna more than once

I left two months ago. The only regret I have is that I can't quit more than once. It brought me so much joy to be able to tell my bully of a manager that I was leaving and watch the shock on his face. He truly thought none of us had any other... — read more

Coincidence or trend?

Are you more at risk for lay off or “forced” exit if you are over 40 years old? I understand the economics of employing more experienced workers (correlated to age). However, with the number of over 40 people being impacted, it make me wonder how... — read more

I wish they let me volunteer

That way I'd have gotten severance and happily left, and somebody who didn't want to be laid off could still be here. It would have been a win-win.

Hope all affected yesterday get back on their feet soon

So sorry for all of you, guys, who were affected yesterday. Layoffs were apparently across the board. Times are tough, it’s not easy to find a new job, and losing it in this economy is really bad. Most of us have savings for a couple of months, and... — read more

"happy staff"

There was an interesting question posed in the Fishbowl app. If you aren't aware, Fishbowl is a mobile app by a service that rates companies. Companies can have their own "bowl" space and people can anonymously post frustrations, questions, opinions... — read more

Layoffs update

What was the scope today? Do we have any idea?

Notifications

How are people being notified? Is it a 1:1? Does that mean if I don't have one scheduled, I'm safe? Or is it some other way?

02/22 Happenings

Just putting a single thread up for tomorrow’s changes. Good Luck Everyone, the Best is Yet to Come!

Cigna is bad for mental health

Terrible culture and constant fear of layoffs are only the tip of the iceberg. My mental health has deteriorated significantly since I joined two years ago and I can't even imagine how it is for some of my older coworkers. I believe changing jobs is... — read more

Am I being quiet fired?

Leader consistently moves my 1:1, is late or cancels. Doesn’t respond to my emails in a timely manner. Constantly on do not disturb. Am walking on eggshells because if I speak up, I’m disruptive. I retreat and now I’m told I am disengaged. My gut... — read more

The WARN act

How is Cigna getting around having to send info to the govt regarding future layoffs via the WARN act? When I look up WARN act layoffs here: https://www.tn.gov/workforce/general-resources/major-publications0/major-publications-redirect/reports.html .. — read more

Technology Stability Period

Any information on this? Conspiracy brain tells me it’s in place to prevent any damage being done to critical source systems during layoff period. Totally baseless, just makes me wonder since there was no context supplied.

No one seems to know.

I think it’s safe to say that the people who once knew about upcoming layoffs have either been let go or are afraid to speak up. We are now left with a lot of speculation and the waiting period has become unbearable.

2/22 - is this the next big layoff date?

I’ve heard 2/22, 2/29 & 2/15. Does anyone have clarity around the next date? And those that were let go already how was it done? Was it normal 1:1 meeting or other titled meeting?

Burned out

I’ve been for a while, due to workload and stressful environment. I am now experiencing a new layer to it. I was panicking over losing my job. I’m now slowly transitioning towards not giving a sh-t about it anymore. And not in a good way. More like... — read more

Buckle Up

Cigna’s SG&A (Expense) ratio has been around 7.5% of revenue the last two years. 2024 is projected to be ~6.1% based on the recent earnings release. This represents a 20% reduction for a company where headcount is the largest SG&A expense.

Work the absolute minimum

Considering how we're being treated by Cigna, it's only fair that we pay the company back in kind. That means don't do anything other than what you have to. No extra effort, no staying late, no doing tasks that are not part of your job description... — read more

Warning about being contacted via LinkedIn

I know many at Cigna have been contacted by recruiters over that past week or so. Folks in that field are well aware of what is going on at Cigna. I know because one of my good friends is a technical recruiter. He was the person that warned me about... — read more
