Spirit bankruptcy funding approved, but what happens to us now?
I work at Spirit and I don’t know what to think anymore. The company just got court approval for $475 million in financing to keep things running during bankruptcy, but everyone here knows what that really means. Chapter 11 sounds like a plan to reorganize, but for the people doing the day-to-day work, it usually means job cuts, unpaid overtime, and endless waiting for answers that never come.
Management keeps saying operations will continue as normal, but that's not helping morale. Some teams are already being told to cut spending and delay projects, and everyone’s whispering about more potential furloughs. I’ve seen this kind of thing before in other airlines, and it always starts with a few quiet layoffs before the bigger rounds hit. I really hope they handle this the right way, but most of us are just bracing ourselves and hoping to survive the next few months.

Spirit Airlines will furlough 103 flight attendants at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport starting December 1, according to a WARN notice filed with Michigan’s Labor and Economy Opportunity division. The airline called the move temporary but did not specify how long it will last.
Spirit filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on August 29 and announced plans to scale back operations in some markets. The affected workers, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants, will be subject to protections under the WARN Act, which requires 60 days’ notice for certain plant closures or mass layoffs.

Workers for Toyota in Brazil voted overwhelmingly on Sunday to approve a plan for temporary layoffs following storm damage to one of the Japanese carmaker's factories in the state of Sao Paulo, according to a statement from the workers union.

38 jobs could be cut, community center closing
The City of Colorado Springs announced some measures it is planning to implement aimed at closing a projected $31 million shortfall.
The City said the adjustments will include efficiencies, reductions in workforce, scheduled furlough days, and the permanent closure of Meadows Park Community Center. The changes are designed to maintain the City’s long-term financial health and ensure the continuation of administrative priorities, including public safety, emergency response, and infrastructure services.
