Heard rumour about 100s being laid off yesterday in Oracle IDS & other teams. Is this true? Can we get more info on it?
If the numbers aren’t good by mid year a big wave of cuts seem pretty certain?
And I say this assuming the numbers are not going to be good. We are trailing behind the competition on all the mayor markets and I think the leadership is slowly but surely runnin out of techniques to keep the stock stable artificially. When reality... — read more
How many people could be let go by the end of 2019?
This is a hypothetical question, and I know that is hard to determine. Aside from that I would like some opinions on what numbers can we expect and what are the areas in which layoffs could occur the most?

Yet another downgrade
Nemura downdrafts oracle for the share buybacks - $75 Bn since 2012, completely unsustainable for oracle to spend $10bn per quarter. Stock will go down as cash declines and debt goes up, while revenues and profits go to Hell in a hand basket. Oracle... — read more

Unofficial official layoff report 3/10/2019
No major layoffs this past week. Total since 6/1/2016 remains at 20,396. Would not be surprised by another layoff following this coming week’s earning report. Keep looking!
I wonder how the numbers would look without stock buybacks?
The oldest trick in the book, when you want an artificial raise of the stock, and the Oracle leadership is not shy of doing it on a big scale. Any way to find out the realistic value? I doubt it, but it would be certainly interesting to see.
Oracle UK tweaks financial reporting, sees revenues rise
https://www.theregister.co.uk/2019/03/08/oracle_uk_accounts_2018/ In reality there is no revenue boost, they just switched how they define their work. At some point Oracle is going to run out if accounting tricks and then the bottom will fall out.
