Thread regarding MetLife Inc. layoffs

Next CEO?

Who will be the next CEO? If the board lets Khalaf stay until 65 or if they cut him, they need a successor, stat.

@4sn Hmm. Laura Hay. Started at MetLife. Is an actuary. That's an excellent prediction.

Khalaf is going to hang on till they pry his hands off the controls.

The CFO is American, but that, and being a male, may count against him in the CEO race.

After Khalaf leaves, I predict an asian female from finance (accounting, actuarial) will be the next CEO. Likely east asia, as opposed to south asia.

@2x8 not anymore, all the Americans are long gone....

So, back to the OP question: Who will be the next CEO?

Anyone think there are any viable in-house candidates?

@2bn 💯 facts! I've seen these "underrepresented" DEI hires and promotions over the past 5 or so years, and all I can say is, that was the beginning of the end for this company. These people can't even articulate a sentence in plain English, and yet they are leading entire business units. 🤡🤡🤡

@25w I’d assume they are paying less too for the underrepresented groups. Which fits their plans to cut costs by reducing staff and off shoring everything.

@13p right?? I’ve thought that for years

@1y4 (replying to self) I want to revise. "Chickening out" on the 2030 policy isn't the right phrase. After all, based on subsequent posts, MetLife is still implementing it, partly by terminating members of "over represented" groups.

They are still working on the 2030 goals, but doing so stealthly.

Stealth DEI, that's what it is.

@23m The real kicker is the H1B filings and coworkers I saw at the same time for my position title/level. Like, really? You couldn't lay off some of those instead? Had to go for the citizen who was competent?

It was glaringly obvious what they were doing.

It worked out in my favor all around in the end, so they made a good decision for me ultimately.

@1z2 yep the 3 of us let go were all the same group to suppress to achieve DEI. That ain’t working well for met lol

Best person for the job regardless of any race/gender/persuasion should get jobs. Government mandates don’t work. Look at the joke the Rooney rule is in the nfl.

@1y4 💯 speak the truth about this company as negative as it is, and the downvotes come flying out. Bunch of silly 🤡🤡🤡

@1t4 As someone selected for their "involuntary retirement" in recent years during the current administration, I was one of many in my line who were all of the stereotypical race and s-x that DEI exists to suppress......

So no, the current administration does not preclude them from that.

Down-voters don't like discussion of MetLife running from its own policy? Why not? This is reality.

Makes you question how firmly management believed the policy in the first place since they seem to have chickened out.

@1t4 I agree, but it's just a disavowal of convenience. I guarantee if a Democrat president gets it, it will be "game on" again.

Someone should ask about the 2030 goals at the next shareholders meeting. That would be a laugh.

@1t0 Met disavowed DEI due to the current White House administration and government contracts. DEI no longer exists here. No more pace, no more podcasts. All references to DEI have been scrubbed from the website. All I can say is Thank God.

Meh. If you believe Metlife's 2030 DEI goals, and that document seems to be missing, now, LOL, it would be good odds that the next CEO would be female and minority.

"Continue to advance workforce diversity by consistently achieving top quartile positioning across each ethnically and racially diverse category in the U.S. and of female officers globally. Enhance transparency of the link between top quartile positioning and executive leadership performance."

Per https://diversityglobal.com/web/Article.aspx?id=Metlife-Commits-Over-2-5-Billion-to-DEI-Initiatives-by-2030-4452

Can anyone find the 2030 DEI doc on MetLife's public facing website?

In case Hollywood wants to reboot the Monk TV series, Khalaf would be an excellent fit for the part as if he was playing the son of Tony Shalhoub.

@t8 LOL. At least Khalaf didn't try to get his picture taken with Spain.

Or did he?

@c2 Good theory. They are overrunning large corpos in the US, why wouldn't the pattern hold? I am surprised we don't see one in the C suite already.
