Thread regarding Molina Healthcare Inc. layoffs

Exhausted by the uncertainty

Will there ever be a time when we're not constantly worried about layoffs? Job security feels like a thing of the past. I'm so tired.

@3nw yeah Joe z has said going into next year we are looking to reduce our MP footprint and refocus on Medicare and Medicaid. It's gonna be a tough year for some of the lines of business. I don't like how much trump gutted from healthcare to cover his tax cuts that mostly benefitted the top 1%. But that being said the COVID era levels of government support on subsidizing the ACA was going to end eventually. And we would have seen losses there anyway. Best of luck navigating what is inevitably coming.

Trump’s healthcare changes are starting to affect more than just people losing insurance. Medicaid is being cut, ACA coverage is getting harder to afford, and Medicare plans are changing too. When health plans lose members and money, it can lead to job cuts and layoffs in healthcare.

I think if you do your job- and you do it well- you need not worry. And even if you still get cut, you don’t have to worry long if you are a smart, valuable, go getter, or just plain not lazy. Don’t get mad about the lazy comment. It’s true- valuable people are sought after and can easily adjust to something else. Like I said before, now is the time to work a little extra, maybe give up that Saturday to position yourself in the right opportunity- do a little more now. Too many people that should not be around have somehow stuck around. Lots of nepotism and weirdness for years and years. Let’s all get back to work.

There is no true job security anymore. Companies will always prioritize shareholders over their employees and reduce the workforce in an instant if it makes sense financially. Right now is especially bad because Ai is starting to mature and get to a point that it can do the jobs traditionally reserved for a traditional employee. Ai never needs sleep or breaks and can perform it's function in perpetuity. It's not gonna last forever. This bubble will pop and a new normal will come around. The job market will adjust and new careers will open up. It's just a time of major transition.
