Thread regarding Ford layoffs

The Peter Principle in action

We keep promoting people who can't do the job and rewarding them for it. The good-old-boy network is alive and well, and it's dragging us all down. I've seen brilliant people sidelined because they didn't play the game. The people who move up aren't the ones who know the work, they're the ones who know the right people. And we're all paying the price.

Ford markets itself as an engineering company, but in my opinion it behaves like a closed social club. Merit and technical capability are overshadowed by politics, favoritism, and who you know. Engineering talent is too often treated as secondary to belonging to the right clique.

@OP. It is NOT the Peter Principle, but the FnF crowd... In the Peter Principle, the person actually is good at his job, and only when promoted cannot do his job well. At Ford, most of the people in power were never good at their jobs, and got promoted anyway.

Can you name one accomplishment that bunny slippers did in any of his positions at Tesla, Apple or Ford? I got none. And I can say the same for many other managers. At Ford, is not What you know, but WHO you know. Ergo, the FnF club...

Perhaps leadership should enroll in one of the elite music camp's programs in northern Michigan to enhance their business acumen.

Many live it everyday.

It's an incompetent social club that will never change.

@mm same thing with Canopy Security LLC, the person that claimed it was all their idea and then failed to deliver to the tune of returning all customer money and $200 million written off, still has a job at Ford.

statement is true. I the old days if a CNE oversold a program they were held accountable. look at the Lightning F150. How many billions wasted only to she that CNE Promoted. Second the new mustang. another flop. why are these people still in their position? Those management teams should be held accountable. not promoted.

Can't say it's the good old boy network, since that would promoting those you know and "grew up with" within the Ford enterprise. That's how it used to work. Now, we are promoting those we don't understand because if they are different than us (outside of the USA, from California, or non-automotive) they must be smarter than us because we have been told we are not very smart. Of course, once you invite them in, they are happy to exploit Ford for their own benefit and provide no value. They will hire those like them. It hurts Ford and it hurts America.

Ford has always been that way. The best thing you can do is to get the he-l out of there!

I believe it's a tactic to get older workers to retire.

And they say the magic word to management on the regular...."YES".

Regardless if the subject at hand is good or bad or even possible.
