Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

EMHC falling apart

The cost cutting and deferred maintenance are starting to show. Many items in campus are just left broken and not being repaired. Pathetic.
Should people be rewarded for saving money at the expense of not maintaining things? In the long run doesn’t this backfire?

Historically, if our refineries or chemical plants were not making money, the refinery or chemical plant manager is told to stop spending money on discretionary items such as paper towels, paint for pipes and administration buildings, flowers, grass, mulch...etc.

If you cannot find a paper towel in the restrooms or the paint on the administration building is flaking off, you know where your operating unit stands.

I've made tickets for broken toilets or sinks and they just put a permanent out of service tag on it.
The bathroom cleaning schedule is a joke. And the rest of the office doesn't seem to get cleaned at all, its gross.
There was an old burrito in the garage stairwell for weeks.

@bj - what odds would you place on us having NOT outsourced prioritization of facilities maintenance tickets to either a 3P or India? I’d say 0%. It’s almost certainly a third party we pay as little as possible to do the job. AEST has us outsourcing all of our maintenance planner jobs at the plants to 3X the number of BTC, so again, what are the odds that we wouldn’t do something exactly like that to EMHC?

@h7 I think that is for our Indian colleagues

@er If you people weren’t constantly posting racist BS the posts wouldn’t be getting contorted to begin with.

Maybe go clean it yourself if you don’t like it. Or retire. Or quit. Nobody gives AF.

Man, reading this thread… some of these maintenance folks are about to get PIP’d if things keep falling apart like this.

Not saying they should, just saying EMHC leadership loves using PIPs as their favorite “fix.”

@cj congrats on contorting the OP's post to a racial profiling issue.

@a3 I've submitted tickets & invariably get a bi--hy toned response back about my report being a "known issue." And the problems still don't get fixed. Maybe they're waiting for someone from BTC to come fix it?

@a3 nice try. It isn’t an emergency issue. Temporarily out of order signs are popping up all over campus and remain in place for weeks to months with no repairs made. Maybe they spent the budget for the year already.

@OP You know all those brown people who talk funny that you don’t like?

Yeah, they're the ones who clean and fix things. I assume that you have access to the news cycle, and therefore the reasons why they aren’t there to clean up after you and fix what you broke.

@OP I’m sure you people will figure out a way to blame brown people for this, either by tying it to DEI and/or outsourcing.

In fact, I’m surprised it hasn’t been said here yet.

Just take a ride to 6th floor, take a dump and don’t flush. Let execs experience the life of the ordinary worker bee.

There is a broken toilet in our floor that is “out of service” for months now. Tells you all you need to know of state of affairs. I am sure that doesn’t happen for those who live on 6th floor.

I guess it depends on what you're referring to. The power is in your hands to notify building maintenance of repair needs. If so, take the initiative to submit a ticket at goto/emerge. Plumbing, lighting, furniture...a lot can get done through them but someone needs to tell them. I see a lot of folks expecting others to just know or do it for them. Don't assume, take control
