Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

PLs- VSP/RIFs can we all agree that most PLs are just there to look pretty and credit off their team’s work

My dept is losing high quality high performing employees. In my personal experience, my PL is an airhead that has absolutely no idea what they are doing. Has earned his title by faking it up the corporate ladder and with our losses they are not capable of picking up the extra work around. Is Centene reviewing the anon employee surveys. This would shed light on a trend that PLs are aweful when it comes to helping us get our work done. I wish these people would be let go of first. Thoughts? State your dept/state

Logically, instead of drawing away whats left of the PLs into moe endless meetings, they would start to understand what a waste of time this is for the PL's and their teams. Now that we have less people to do undoubtedly more work as we go into another season of transition with the Fed rule changes being implemented in 27. This would be a prime time for leadership to suss out when a simple email would do the trick instead of endless redundant meetings, set time limits on their meetings and also start getting systems in place to address the complicated processes that could be simplified .

So many directors, managers and supervisor that have not done the work, much less live in the state of the people they are managing. Is this by design??

@av Seriously!! When was the last time a PL actually pitched in and helped their team? My PL heavily relies on one of my high-performing coworkers—to the point where meetings have to be moved around just to make sure my coworker can attend because my PL can’t lead them on their own. Mind you, these are meetings where the PL is supposed to be the team’s “front-line defense.” It’s ridiculous that they’re paid so much more just to rely on and take credit for someone else’s knowledge and work.
I too fill out those surveys and I’m very honest. Come on Centene!! You know exactly who you should be letting go

I am surprised more PLs did not get RIFd, if they really wanted to cut the fat it’s right there! Way too many layers of ‘management.’ When was the last time your PL actually pitched in and helped your team!

SC/ Operations. My PL also plays it off very well but when they truly need to provide the support they’re MIA. They literally have no idea how to help you. If I bring up the issue once it goes over them. Then I have to keep following up because they keep dodging me. That’s why we have so many cases on hold because it needs leadership intervention but they’re too busy handling stuff for other depts except their own. I hate it here. I’ve also talked with a few NJ workers. They’re also going through it with claims.

@aq and that’s why I put it through copilot and make sure there isn’t anything too specific that would make them think of me.

@ap NJ here, and same. My team has to jump through so many hoops just to get the “simple” tasks done. I’ve been reprimanded multiple times for asking for help, yet when I go to my direct PL, I’m basically shooed away and told to ask another team because they don’t know how to help me. Then somehow I’m the one getting called out for seeking help elsewhere. It’s a lose-lose situation.

I took the VSP and cannot wait to be out next month. Good luck to everyone staying because this is definitely not a “CenTeam.” It’s more like, “You’re on your own—figure it out, then let me know when it’s done so I can tell my boss I did it.” 😭

Be careful with "anonymous" employee surveys. I advise against leaving comments when completing them. Many PLs know who completed the surverys simply by recognizing the person's writing style.

My PL (also an airhead) does recognize my work and praises the team when work gets done HOWEVER when it comes to dept meetings or town halls, my PL is the one to get the standing ovation rather than recognizing the individuals involved in making it happen. My PL did not contribute in the slightest (other than setting up the templates and assigning the work) yet got the praise. I wish I was joking.

I said what I said on those surveys! If this is their only way for employees to have their voice heard then so be it, but the fact that they are not addressing the employees concerns is a big slap to the face! Especially if management is aware of PL’s behavior toward their team. Should be a red flag

@OP 13 years and took the VSP. I guess it depends on where you work and the PL. I have had numerous Managers and Directors during my tenure and they worked hard and supported their team. I hear you though, not across the board for all PL. Because of my leadership and team, I struggled with my decision but this company has become so toxic and cares nothing about us, it was time. Like so many of us, appaled by the company we have become. I doubt Centene will be here in a future years. You cannot loose decades of talent and replace with AI and offshore labor. Good luck everyone.

They don’t need surveys to know the rumors. They know. From other threads its easier to get rid of an IC than a PL.

@a4 this is why I’ve never filled out even one work survey.

The surveys are not anonymous. Don’t kid yourself. Yes, they say they are. But that unique link you get? They know exactly which unique code attaches to each email. It’s never ever truly anonymous.

My team has quite a few people who opted for the VSP and they had the same thoughts. Their PL drowned them with work along with extremely tight deadlines and was incapable of providing any help or support. NJ
