But the only thing that brings me joy is being miserable at work and spreading negativity. Why would I walk away from that which pays.
On the contrary, some of care about Chevron and love what it used ito be and only complain because we know what a great company it once was and actually want it to succeed. This is also a layoff site, did you think people here would be bright and cheery to begin with?

Yeah, it's always interesting to watch someone lash out from the peak of "Mt. Stupid".

I coined the term Chevron derangement syndrome in a previous threas. It was meant for the effiminate men who talk with lisps and only crank out power points all day. The people who are totally technically illeterate but know phrases like “benchmarking value drivers to right size efficiency”

@OP no one, literally no one, thinks the company is on even a remotely decent trajectory. It’s reflected in CES scores, the current talent exodus, even Mike acknowledged it today (to the extent a CEO will admit fault). The reorg has been an absolute mess. ENGINE, the savior, is by all accounts underwhelming. And, unequivocally, there is less upward opportunity for staff than at any point in my career, and probably ever. I assume you’re either a troll, a paid oppo, or an exec with a drinking problem going through a divorce here to vent - because no one can look at this calamity and believe it’s anything other than a sh-tshow.

@OP There’s a lot of confidence here, but not much accuracy. Misusing terms like ‘Dunning–Kruger’ doesn’t turn projection into insight. Chevron didn’t get to the bottom of the competitive stack by trying hard. Today’s SETH was an emperor has no clothes moment.
I’m not sure I’d call the people complaining Chevron Haters. Calling them disillusioned by Chevron’s culture change is more likely the truth. Chevron has changed a lot in the past 10 years and not for the better. While it still has great people Chevron is no longer guided by Chevron Way. Many stay for the people and leave when opportunity knocks. Unfortunately, there are less opportunities these days, so people remain and try to cope by venting on Chevron Layoffs. Cut them some slack.
@OP right. Last I checked, we work and contribute in exchange for a paycheck and damn good benefits. That’s the payoff.
