I received several formal recognition letters and awards from management and then somehow dropped all the way to NI a place I have never been even close to. Manager couldn’t explain any reasons why.

If you think XOM manager have ba--s for confrontation I have a bridge to sell you
You did great work but you did poorly in the popularity contest.
I was there last year. Got recognized multiple times through the year in the recognition program with comments around outstanding contributions ….bla, bla, bla. Then came to kick in the teeth with PDS and hitting NSI for the first time. Was never below VG in 10+ years. I did change to a new group just before the PDS cycle and felt like I was thrown under the bus. Fast-forward to this year different supervisor - back to normal rankings. But now that NSI is held over my head for the next five years. I’ll hold my tongue with the previous supervisor, but I will never work for them again.
@OP Are you serious? If they tell you what needs to be done how can they put you in NSI next cycle?
@a8 it doesn’t make sense to wait it out. Makes more sense to direct efforts to finding a new job.
I’ve been there, I’ve literally felt the kn--e in my back. Close your laptop, step away, go for a walk, clear your head. Take a few days off if you need to. This will pass, and you’ll get your footing back.
If your manager can’t tell you why you’re NI, either they have zero backbone and were bullied into it or they’re too chicken to tell you that you embarrassed them. Either way, start looking for somewhere that wants you.
