I know many positions were lost but this question has been lingering in my head. Could the company have looked at how much family’s insurance costs them and decided some of us are too expensive? A lot of the one's that stayed don't have children or have insurance through their spouses (from the one's I personally know). Centene's focus with Cognizant/MAGI (AI), Salesfoce, temps, and sending jobs overseas adds more to my suspicion that employee benefits were taken into consideration.

@c9 It is not standard practice.. ~10% of U.S. based companies do not offer working spouses health insurance. Every other company I’ve worked for offered it.
@ah standard practice everywhere these days
I don’t have my family on my benefits. I’m part of an ICHRA plan they forced us into this year. So no, my family benefit cost didn’t okay into me being involuntarily separated. There were supervisors there longer than me and some less time than me who were retained.
@ac Yes that’s my question. ? How can they report a loss and she made 20 million ?
@ap In all honesty, it makes little sense. Most of the Associate Directors and Directors I have met are not really bright and lousy workers. Some good workers but lousy leaders. And I spent some time with my last boss who was an Associate Director and one time I picked him up at his house, which wad in a subdivision that normally only Surgeons or Attorneys could afford. Meanwhile, I as an Engineer with decades of technical experience live in an apartment.
I was forced out and I believe he recently got a promotion after forcing me out after calling me drunk one night cussing at me.
Once again, makes little sense. Am I bitter about it? Yep, better believe it!
I as well as my kids have coverage through my spouses plan. I also know I get paid less than some of my colleagues bc I'm supposedly in a lower col area. They fired a lot of people bc they were ruthless.
@OP I really don’t agree but who knows. Nothing they do makes sense. My QI I had 2 kids on hers.
@ad So then by that logic, how do you explain the leadership getting paid more than enough money and benefits to live comfortably, but the people on the front line are just "subject to capitalism"? Make it make sense.
Explain it to me like I am 5.
They'd never admit it, but they definitely take into consideration how much an employee costs them which includes salary and benefits. This is a common practice in all corporations.
@OP they already don’t pay for spouses if they have access to insurance somewhere else which is cheap and awful.
I am sure we will all be on ICHRA next year anyway. Not looking forward to that.
Let’s hope they didn’t stoop that low.
Not benefits in particular but lowering overhead in general, Salaries + benefits. People have to understand that we live in a capitalist country, and corporations are here to make money and not to offer ppl jobs so you can live comfortably. Centene's leadership and board of directors want to increase profits to pay shareholders. And who is shareholders, it's them and investors, but leadership benefit the most, hence, London made over 20 millions last year even though Centene reported a Net loss
Wow! Can they do that ?
