Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Career Orientation is like what was previous “job family”. It’s centered around capability

Career Objective is what used to be called Potential. But now is role types rather than levels. ( chief or senior principal or rather than saying potential CL33 or 31 etc). Though Agree there are still loose ties to CL ranges.

HiPos (previous labeled potential 38+) are now part of Senior Leader Talent Reviews (SLTRs) where current senior mgmt stewards/shepards them. Previously called exec development reviews (EDR).

@OP honestly you should not worry about it, spend your time looking for outside ExxonMobil

People complain about all the cost cutting, it’s not going to get any better

Yes and remember that you cannot earn your way to executive potential with high ranking results. Hipos are identified in the first two years and have sponsors. If you do not have a sponsor, raises every six months, etc you are not a hipo. The hipos know who they are.

Career orientation is career steward basically. It’s the capability that you are developed in.

Potential still exists but it’s not a number anymore. It’s a tier. In all practicality, there’s not much of a change as there are still loose/heritage ties (e.g., exec is 30-34)

If this is a serious question, your good. Or not to be blunt but naive.
