@OP Maybe someone can explain it here. I'm losing track of what is happening with so many moving pieces. Verizon suffers from a series of bad decisions so it restructures. Part of the restructuring appears to be to juggle as many ba--s as possible.
In the last 12 months we have purchased, acquired or partnered with:
Frontier Communications: Completed a massive $20 billion acquisition on January 20, 2026, vastly expanding Verizon's fiber network footprint across 31 states and Washington, D.C.
Carolina West Wireless: Reached a deal for an undisclosed amount in June 2026 to acquire a smaller, shutting-down 35-year-old regional wireless competitor to absorb remaining operations and spectrum.
Google: Signed a $1+ billion dark fiber connectivity deal in July 2026 to supply high-capacity infrastructure for Google's data centers.
BT Group: Agreed to merge their respective international enterprise operations into a 50:50 joint venture, alongside a $625 million equalization payment from Verizon.
AST SpaceMobile: Invested $100 million into a strategic partnership to support direct-to-cellular satellite broadband integration in October 2025.
All while cutting the people you would think would be needed to juggle all of those ba--s effectively.
