Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

During your 21 day decision window

Those of us designated NSI, for performance reasons, politics, or just because some freak Project Manager with the stupidest hairstyle hated you, what are your thoughts during this 21 day decision period?
What are you likely to choose and why?

You are under no obligation to respond for 21 days, so wait the 21 days. I was told that the gudance on PIPs this year is that the manager will need to attest that the person can perform at the Very Good level or above during this cycle to pass the PIP. The cards are stacked against you unless your manager wants you to stay.

Unless you are retirement eligible, PIL is probably the way to go. the 3 month clock on the PIL starts on your last day so wait the 21 days, do handover for up to 5 days and that should get you into December so you will accrue additional service time and vacation that they will pay you for.

Good luck

During my 21 days I feel betrayed. EM is laying off good people via PIP and keeping some mo--ns.

I read previously posted messages regarding creating a Union.
Exxon has began tracking your attendance activities. A defense council or a decent litigator would systematically build a textual, policy based defense. Expect them to bypass emotional arguments and present a cold, chronological log of attendance ( workplace insights) or performance infractions to invoke Texas at-will protections.

You would be better off taking the PIL or PIP.

I know most of you all are upset but you do have agency. You can choose to leave or stay: if you stay , you accept the performance assessment.

@fa haha as if anyone has faith in the system. Maybe those who are in protected classes or hipos.

That is three weeks to apply for jobs before making any decision.

If you don’t have faith in the performance assessment process then ExxonMobil is not the company for you. Feel free to leave, its your choice

You wind the clock wind down to day 21 and click the button that says “Ciao” on the last day. Roll. Leave this place in the rearview. Life is too short for this boosheet.

HR is not here to protect your interests.

They only exist to protect the company’s.

Good luck getting a response as well.

@ay You can document everything doesn't change anything. HR already knows the result , they just pretend they are involved they follow management's orders

That Project Manager should get NSI for inability to communicate and for scheming against you for his personal hatred of you unrelated to your performance..

@OP If you and your manager don't get along or if he is a manipulative he won't let you pass

@OP I’d use all 21 days and keep them in limbo (they did the same to you. They knew your ranking for months and only told you during the PA meeting. )
The outcome is already predetermined, and even if they say “pass,” you should ask yourself why you? They never put someone they actually want to keep on a PIP.
The job market is brutal, but doing a PIP that’s designed to fail is pointless ( no matter how hard you work, they’ll fail you.) On the flip side, when they want someone to pass, it becomes effortless. You have no influence on output but sometimes you can figure out and read the room and know the results of your PIP...At the end of the day, it’s your call.

The best choice is to do what is best for you and your family.

I understand the emotions that are generated when you are lied to in an assessment review. You have to remember who is telling this to you and how it was determined.

Don’t cut off your arm to spite your hand. Use XOM for their money and benefits and leave when it’s your time.

This is great advice while working for XOM whether you find yourself as NSI or not.
