Hard work and skill won't get you ahead. Flatter your boss and trash-talk the competition. That's the winning combination.

Indian manager promoted 3 of his people (developers)- the starting salary for one of them is $144k. The same week another team member said the same developer is useless. The “engineer” probably isn’t far off on his banter
@aa , correct. I am ashamed to admit I did this for five years until I woke up and realized that I was being asked to compromise my ethics as well as all my free time. That was a wake up call like no other in my entire (40 year) career. I prepped my resignation overnight and quit with nothing lined up. Three years later, zero regrets. Stress ki-ls.
Pretty much all of it except SO and clinical roles are what I had in mind.
That's how the compliance department is - like I'm back in high school football.
False 100s of high paid engineers, 6 fig. 30k bonus no work for years, asked to enjoy summer and come back fresh
@g3
Curious as to what Aetna leadership you are talking about. The previous post to yours described Aetna Medicare.
It’s a lot easier to get ahead on the Aetna side of the business. It feels like an entirely different company. (Corp teams with a high % of legacy Aetna leadership are usually better as well). Orgs with zero to little legacy Aetna leadership and it’s a whole different story. Those teams are generally hostile to even the thought of advancement. Exceptions exist in isolated parts of the company like Ventures, Investor Relations, the investment management arm, and other teams that are looking at external opportunities. The reason for this is because these teams are also generally made up of people not from Corporate CVS and have a higher degree of autonomy. Outside of that, you basically are doing the job of someone one pay grade higher already, while your leaders claim that you are not ready yet (without zero to little specifics), and you basically wait and hope you don’t f up until your name is called for a promotion.
Take credit for someone else's hard work.
Kiss up to your ExDir.
Marry someone's relative.
Spread rumors.
It worked for a bunch of people.
The company blows so bad I saw a post on tik tok where is rated #1 worst company to work for in CT
@aa my team was recently told even if you do it all, eat sleep and breath CVSHEALTH you may still not be promoted and you will like it.
@OP You forgot to add drink the kool-aid hard, eat sleep and breathe metrics, and be 100% available 24/7/365 and have no life outside of work. Unfortunately to move up at CVS requires more sacrifice and having zero work/life balance. And not compensated accordingly.
