I would love for my job to get outsourced right now and get a severance package. It would be a blessing.

@OP the $ to the Rupee is now $1 = 95 R. 2 years ago it was $1 ~ 44. Working for pennies.

To be fair, I have working with some of the HCL staff from India on projects and they are nice polite bright people. They do however lack the the knowledge and experience on our systems and often just sign stuff off as they are at a total loss, especialky as their mentors have all been let go.
One Guy also let me know what their general salary was, and I worked out it was a sixth of what I was being paid.
The writing is on the wall, and Im just waiting for a tap on my shoulder.

At one point my Pakistani manager hired a Turkish contracting company to provide guidance on highly technical engineering processes. The Turks promptly asked me what to do.

If I think of who I should ask for engineering advice I would immediately
ASK THE MUSLIM TURKS

InfoSys and the like (HCL, TCS....) were brought in by multiple teams in droves, no one cared of quality, just hire to spend money on useless projects. These were hired by a unqualified VZ FTEs in the first place and it runs so deep it can't be cured. no other way left other than rebadge to hit two birds in one stone, get rid of useless projects as well as the FTEs.

C-Suite would love to do that or sell it to any buyer the only color they see is green, and even then only in their own personal bank accounts. Expect a major outsourcing event by year’s end targeting GTS. The rumors are palpable. Basically Dan and Alphonso are going to get their goals to get their payout. It cannot be done without outsourcing more high salary roles. Stakeholders don’t like GTS. They don’t understand why they don’t like GTS, beyond a surface level. They don’t like GTS because GTS su-ks at software delivery. GTS su-ks at software delivery because they are expected to build software with bottom of the barrel contractors from these agencies instead of highly experienced invested software engineers. GTS’s leadership just wants to protect their own positions and pay. They don’t say no, and they don’t speak up. So Dan and Alphonso are going to outsource most of GTS TO these agencies. This will get their goals in hand by offloading those costs to the agencies. This will also get more of the same from GTS, as they will be even more dependent on these poor performing agencies. Stakeholders will continue to blame GTS, or what’s left of it. The Dan and the Alphonso will get their payout. Software will still su-k at Verizon. There is no nuanced strategy here. You have people who do not care about Verizon running Verizon. It does not matter if Verizon exists in 10 years to these manufactured leaders. They are going to collect American consumers money. Send it to companies outside of Verizon, some outside of this country. Those companies will build a house of cards inside of Verizon. The people responsible for it will get paid handsomely. No one will be physically hurt, many will be financially hurt. It’s a softer version of Boeing effectively. There are no real morals or principles left in American business. Not in the large companies. If you want that, you should go look at small to medium companies with under 5,000 employees. Companies that size still preserve some humanity amidst their ranks, sometimes. Massive American companies are just chess boards for the wealthy and importantly, connected. You don’t get appointed to CEO of these companies on merit, it’s on your network. This type of management style will actually damage the country in the long run if it is reproduced across enough corporations, and it is being reproduced across many corporations. Massive corporations, governments, empires. They fall from within its a commonly observed pattern throughout written history, and likely before. These leaders are the rot from within. It’s going to be fine though. Worst case scenario you have to go build something for yourself. Enough people do that in enough industries it becomes millions of ants eating the carcass of big business. There is opportunity in every loss.
