Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Has anyone had to pay back relocation money after quitting?

How does that work logically?

I had an option to go to Charlotte but im doing so my drive would of have turned into a total of 4 hours a day driving. Versus the 45 minutes I was doing.
Couple that with no raise, use my own vehicle (would have maybe been a different story had they compensated
in either mileage and maintenance) to offset the cost.

I just so happened to have 24 years with the company. Would you have stayed on eat the cost and lose money, or take the severance?
Guess what I did.

@bw there's been no money in the relo budget since maybe 2023 or 2022. There hasn't really been money for travel either. Employees who had to relocate had to do it with their own money. No I don't believe anyone else on this board was important enough for management to get an exception give someone relo money

Those individuals are the lucky ones. I know a ton of people that were not only not offered relocation as an option, their formal request to relocate to a hub made well prior to their notification was denied--but when they were downsized location strategy was still the stated reason.

HY is full of evil people and liars.

over the last couple years many of us fell under relocation strategy policies and were given the option to relocate to an approved hub, which included relocation money, or be laid off.

@a3 I have been thinking a lot about this lately given the current environment, at this point does it really matter if someone is not eligible for rehire. Right now you have to get an exception to hire someone externally, even if eligible, to keep headcount down. It doesn’t look like that rule is going away anytime soon. What are the chances of being able to work here again after you leave? I say this not to scare anyone but to put it into perspective. Don’t let WF scare you of not being able to be rehired, they’re not going to either way. And if an executive wants you back, your ineligibility becomes forgotten.

Just ignore the letter and keep the money.
You may not be able to come back to Wells but hey the World is a big place.

Good luck trying to get a real life example here. Not too many relocation offers have been made and then add in those that quit within a year, then they need to visit this site.

If you are displaced after receiving relocation funds and have either relocated but not remained at your assigned duty station for the minimum required period i.e. one year, or didn't relocate at all i.e. had an approved Workplace Accommodation, then you do not need to repay the relocation funds.

If you resign or are terminated and you have not paid back the relocation funds, then you will not be eligible to return to WF at a later date as either an FTE nor contractor.
