Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Are more people hoping to be laid off than not?

Because I've been talking to a lot of people, and that's the impression I got.

If you do it I'd say you are doing it for love of your team and org, dont say anything about feeling negative yourself. It seems legit to me to feel empathy for h1b's on the team who would be catastrophically impacted in a layoff whereas you would be more or less fine.

I suppose it depends. If you are ready to retire then a RIF with a severance payoff might sound good. But for others it might not be so great

I have my 'stupid review' tommorrow, with not one but two India bosses. I am thinking of mentioning it is OK to put me on the list if a RIFF happens. Thoughts?

I am working this year a lot of overtime just because it's all related to AI related stuff (like MCP, A2A integrations, new specs on top of it, etc) - it should look good on resume when the game of musical chairs inevitably gets me.

With AI I’m even more sneaky about giving them even less of my time. I was using AI tools before it was even allowed. I play video games during work hours for Oracle too. I’m even planning to moonlight them for a bit

@ad Sorry to hear you work 60+ hours a week. I made it a point to never give them more than 25hrs a week for about 15 years. They simply weren’t worth it. My mgmt were horrible people. My peace and free time were worth it. Learning an app no one needs was not. I bet you reduce your hours to 40, no one will say anything. And yes, it’s pro and college football time. I left Oracle but I do wish I was let go but I went right to another company and never looked back.

Oracle could’ve been viewed as the worst decision of my life but I’m 49 and can retire today so I beat them.

I can't work this way thinking that I may get laidoff any time. If not this one maybe next? Nobody can guarantee that they can keep you like old times. Orders are coming from high up from people who don't even know you exist or what you do. It is a gamble!!! How you can keep your peace of mind this way and be productive worrying you could be next? My mgr says not to worry... He does not even he is on the list!!!
The big concern for me is health insurance, it can be a big chunk depending on the next job. I a have health issues so I need some reasonable health plan for me and family. Very sad seeing all this happening, a big turmoil after a dude who thinks he knows everything took over...

Praying for it. If it doesn't happen, I will be leaving on my own within the month.

It's 50/50 for me - close to retirement, financially I'm ready but I enjoy the work, enjoy the paycheck and definitely enjoy the healthcare. If they come for me, I'm ready; if I stay, that's okay as well.
