Thanks Darcie

These market based behaviors are a game changer.

Any chance there's someone willing to share the text of the email or web page that explains "market-based culture"? Some of us may not have access to that information.

I don’t see anything new with this. I think just about everyone has lived and worked these principles for a long time. Would be nice if the bosses at the top took their own advice. Seems like most of the customer dissatisfaction stems from decisions they made, not to mention the employee lack of satisfaction. And develop talent? Really? With flat orgs, no where to grow to, no extra incentives? This is just the top bloviating about how they will justify cutting more people and push others out. They need to do the opposite.

The emporer's new culture.

Except in this case imagining the emporer na--d will cause insanity, like in that Star Trek episode.

The blonde leading the blind
Darcie used to work for Amazon. See that "raise the bar" language in her email? That's from Bezos

@a6

"The message is just do your job. Who intentionally tries not to do the things she talks about?"

I do. Since AT&T decided on an oppositional relationship with their employees, I'm happy to oblige. Skating, shirking, and slacking are always top priority, with a healthy side of resource waste where plausible.

What's not too high on the list is doing good work for AT&T. Executive compensation is already bloated enough. I don't need to contribute any further.

How’s this any different then the past 30 years?

@a1 it has no meaning. It’s consultantsoeak gobbledegook. The US is a market-based economy. Every business’s job except maybe a utility monopoly is to compete in the marketplace and do its best to serve it. In terms of “culture”, the market favors flexibility - ie hybrid or remote - yet we disregard that, which shows just how pointless this stuff is.

And Darcie’s note is more stupidity. The message is just do your job. Who intentionally tries not to do the things she talks about? These people have too much time on their hands.

Guess they’re still trying to figure out what market based actually means 2 years later. Pathetic.
